X and O: how these are ordered
X is the panel that slides, O is the fixed one, and the code is read left to right looking at the house from outside. Getting this backwards is the most common ordering mistake in the industry, which is why we confirm it with a drawing before anything is made.

About horizontal rollers
What does XO actually mean?
X is the panel that slides and O is the one that does not, read left to right from outside the house. So XO means the left panel moves when you are standing in the garden looking at it. If you are inside, it is on your right. This is where orders go wrong, so we confirm it with a drawing.
Is XOX the same as OXO?
Strictly, no: XOX has a fixed centre panel with two sliders, OXO has an operable centre with two fixed. In practice manufacturers and dealers swap the two codes constantly. Never approve a three-panel order on the letters alone — insist on a drawing, from us or from anyone else.
Do the rollers wear out?
They are a consumable, especially in salt air. Stainless steel rollers and tracks should be inspected annually. A sliding window that has become hard to move is usually rollers and dirt in the track, not a failed window.
Roller or single hung for my openings?
Shape decides it. Wide and low, take the roller. Tall and narrow, take the single hung. Most homes here need both, and quoting only one type for the whole house is a sign nobody measured properly.
