About single hung windows
Why not double hung, where both sashes move?
You can have it, and it ventilates in a better pattern because warm air leaves at the top while cool air comes in at the bottom. It also costs more and adds a second set of moving parts. In Miami it is an aesthetic choice more than a practical one, and we will quote it beside single hung if you want to compare.
Can I clean the outside from inside?
Only with tilt-in sashes, and only the lower one. The outside of the fixed upper sash is cleaned from outside. It is worth knowing before you fit them on a second floor.
Will it fit my existing opening?
Usually, and that is the point of measuring. Single hung comes in a wide size range, but the approval is tied to size, so the unit that fits is also the unit whose design pressure has to be checked against your opening.
